Water Clock

YA- 15 and up

Water Clock whisks readers away to the fantastic setting of Atlantis, a world of almost-history where teenagers struggle to find their way through first love, the drive for independence, and meddlesome gods.  This character-driven story will entice teenage girls with a love of fantasy and romance.  Taking the thematic issues of Little Women and combining them with myth, Water Clock creates an Atlantian Titanic that will keep readers spellbound.

On her peaceful little island, Tansy lives a sequestered (and boring) existence.  But a series of events beginning with a boy, and a necklace, lead to betrayal after betrayal at the hands of those she trusted most.  She is destroyed when the love of her life is killed by a jealous ex, and even more horrified when Atlantian law dictates that she marry her lover’s killer.  To survive what's coming, Tansy must use the sudden, mysterious visions from a foreign goddess to uncover a dark family secret and put the pieces of her life back together- all in a race against the clock.

Incorporating contemporary teen problems (boyfriends, parents, obligation vs. free will) and a voice growing in strength and confidence, readers will feel the emotion of Tansy’s journey toward independence and adulthood, including her first love and struggles for freedom.  Water Clock’s underlying mystery will keep readers on their toes through the very last page.

Water Clock’s vivid language creates a world steeped in history and filled with strong women.
